The Forestry Better Business Program was developed out of industry discussions that identified the need to stabilise business performance and to document and maintain professional standards. Its followed a particularly turbulent time that the industry faced as a result of managed investment scheme collapses, the global financial crisis and export trade pressures.
ForestWorks worked closely with the Australian Forest Contractors Association (AFCA) and other industry stakeholders to develop the Forestry Better Business Program. The program was developed and trialled in Tasmania in 2016, with guidance and support from an industry-led project steering committee.
The Australian Government and Tasmanian Government Department of State Growth supported the development of the program by providing seed funding, which enabled industry collaboration to identify and define the Forestry Better Business Program. The program became available to all states and territories in 2017.
